- First identify the object users must recognize in the first viewport: brand, product, place, person, offer, tool state, or core task; that object must be one of the strongest first-screen signals.
- Cover at least five checks: visible object, concrete value, clear primary action, relevant real media/product image, and a visible or navigational hint of the next section.
- If video, 3D, abstract background, or generated imagery is used, foreground copy or interface screenshots must supply the real product signal; decoration cannot replace the object.
- Limit hero hierarchy to one H1, one supporting copy block, and one or two primary/secondary actions; do not stuff a feature list into the hero.
- Check desktop and mobile fold lines separately: on a 390px mobile viewport, the first screen must not show only navigation and half a headline; the main CTA or product signal must remain visible.
- Media crops must preserve the subject and text-safe space; people, products, and interface states must not be obscured by overlays, gradients, or cards.
- Report as pass/risk/recommendation: missing object signal, distant CTA, irrelevant media, unclear next section, and mobile clipping should be called out separately.
