- Register once after import: import { ScrollTrigger } from 'gsap/ScrollTrigger'; gsap.registerPlugin(ScrollTrigger).
- Attach scrollTrigger config to a tween or timeline; trigger defines the element, and start/end can use 'triggerPosition viewportPosition', numbers, '+=300', '+=100%', 'max', or functions.
- Use scrub to bind animation progress to scroll; true follows directly, a number adds catch-up delay. Use pin for fixed sections and usually animate children inside the pinned element rather than the pinned element itself.
- Markers are for development only and must be removed or disabled in production; call ScrollTrigger.refresh() after layout, font, image, or async content changes, but do not refresh every frame.
- Use ScrollTrigger.batch() for many similar entrance animations; third-party smooth scrolling needs scrollerProxy() and ScrollTrigger.update wired to scroller updates.
- Clean up in React/component lifecycles with useGSAP/context revert or by killing ScrollTriggers on unmount; avoid orphan triggers that keep listening to scroll.
